Goals and Objectives
To provide a safe and supportive environment, regulatory compliance, and legal and financial protection for OUR HOSPITAL. The specific objectives of the program include:
- To ensure the safety of employees, patients, visitors, and the community by identifying (through appropriate risk assessment) their risk of exposure to hazards throughout OUR HOSPITAL
- To promote an ongoing risk assessment program which includes hazard surveillance, health and safety regulatory audits, and product safety recalls
- To enhance coordination and communication among departments, committees, and employees involved with specific hazards and hazardous materials throughout OUR HOSPITAL
- To enhance the new employee orientation and continuing education programs with safety information specific to OUR HOSPITAL
- To ensure that OUR HOSPITAL handling of hazardous materials/waste and other safety issues complies with local regulatory requirements, with JCAHO and with Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA)
- To ensure that a process is in place to evaluate the effectiveness of the safety program on an annual basis and review departmental safety policies and procedures as frequently as necessary, but no less frequently than every 3 years
